Today's post is dedicated to two important announcements. First and finely two days ago my new site that I really, really like lunched, and with it my new and updated collection, which I was crafting for the last few months! As I mentioned in last posts on the marathon week and in my book, I myself work and create my collections using my technique of Freehand pattern construction, so here you go.
This kind of precision in pattern making is very hard and sometimes almost impossible to get in classic pattern making methods. All of the designs as you can see exceed the boundaries of the last, that to consider the way of constructing a pattern in normal way is very hard to calculate, believe me I tried. I'm in purpose showing you such an extreme example for shoe pattern, but you can surely use it in your own design, to shorten your process and to give yourself more freedom in your creation.
The most interesting part of this collection for me was to work with veg tan leather, for which I came up with
3-dimensional texture. The lines of the texture descend with lines of the pattern, creating a visual effect of motion. You are more than welcome to visit my new website share and like and I would love to hear your feedback, so you can write them down below.
As I mentioned in the previous posts, I'm planning new things for this blog, so here they are. A training shoemaking courses online. I have long realized that online we can learn not only math and physics, but also shoemaking. This was proved by you and your work.
Because it's physically impossible to dive into details of all aspects in creating the shoe in books. They are small details but it's very important to know them, to make professional, complete shoes. In the courses I plan to teach in detail all types of shoes and theirs variations of patterns from the drawing on the last to the finished pair, how to sew, lasts, how to last and more. Although it's online training I believe that it is very important that in the courses we can learn and discuss the process. The courses will be divided into levels for beginners, advanced and master class course. At the moment I haven't made a list of the courses yet, it's more of sharing this idea with you, So now that is what I need you to do.
If you are interested in participating this kind of on-line training, write "yes, I want shoemaking course" in the comment here on the blog, more than that, write what are your weakness and what shoemaking course you would like to participate, what you need to learn?!

Yes I would be interested in a shoemaking course. I would like to learn a little more about closing. How to make a sole look nice and other tings I don't know about yet.
ReplyDeleteHi Sveta,
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have an online shoemaking class. I've already taken several classes and made shoes, but I'm interested in using more of the traditional tools (for example, I used a belt sander instead of sandpaper when I was working on the soles, but I no longer have access to it) so I'd like to learn how to do more things by hand. I'd also like to focus on sandalmaking because I haven't done a lot of that.
Yes, me please, I want to do the online shoe making course. Think it best I start from the beginning as I know there are still basic steps I am missing.
ReplyDeleteYour new collection is stunning! The affect you have created with the veg tan leather reminds me of something really ancient and interesting... almost like the folds found on some fossil shells. Beautiful.
Thank you, guys. Great stuff.I am glad that I asked. People ask me about piping, basic pattern making, covering high heels and attaching them to lasts, measurements, leather and more basic stuff that I would not thought about teaching them myself. I got a lot of work to do:) Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know more about using counters and toepuff using modern materials. I've been trying with the thermoplastic stuff but it's not quite right. I would like to know how modern shoes are made not old fashion bespoke shoes. Theres plenty of material available on those.
ReplyDeleteWe live in 2013!Yes, now we can make shoes saving our time on useless things just because "old shoemaker" did it. In new fast world we must do all in easier and more suitable way. I like it,I use it, and I'll teach it.
DeleteYes, I would be interested in doing an online course. I feel that I still have a great deal to learn. The complete manufacturing process

Omg I would love to do an online shoe making course! There is literally no information or books on how to make shoes unless they are from the 1970's and they"re shoes that are outdated. I want to learn how to make pumps and other shoes. It would be a godsend if you could make a course online!!
